As the IRC adopts Hemp into the building code we celebrate the steps forward to sustainability. There is a lot of education that needs to be had about these building materials and the benefits they bring.

Tying up the last of loose ends this week, before we start prepping presentations and promoting the events! Thank you to everyone that has supported me in this.

The corner of a hand-stitched sail made in the 1800s. Canvas sails were made of hemp. Hemp is 3 times stronger than jute and was preferred because it was unaffected by salt water.

When you grow crops for building materials that are water smart, create cooler/moister micro climates and can also be utilized for livestock feed, soil conditioning for crops, textiles, medicines, plastics, and it is carbon negative while replacing the environment with 20x more oxygen in a 4month growth cycle than 100 year old trees do in their entire life time it all becomes a “no brainer”.
